Abstract
Wright was the chair of Natural History at Berea College from 1870 to 1872. A few years after leaving Berea, he would be appointed professor of Geology and Natural History at Oberlin College. While at Berea College, Wright also served as the faculty meeting clerk. On September 21, 1874, he married Mary Lyon Bedortha (1846-1877), of Saratoga Springs, New York. Professor Albert Allen Wright died April 2, 1905.

Abstract
The Village of Berea was incorporated as a 6th class city on May 9, 1890, at a meeting held in the office of the treasurer of Berea College, P.D. Dodge. The location suggests that the College community initiated the creation of a formal government structure for the town. Berea was governed by a five-man Board of Trustees until 1909, when it became a 5th class city and was therefore entitled to have a mayor. Abstract
Starting in 1899, a fire brigade made up of students and known as the "Bucket Brigade," was established on campus and responded to calls both on and off campus. Formally established in 1905 by the College, the Fire Department served the campus and the city and was staffed by students. In 1966, the City of Berea took over responsibilities for operating the fire department ending what many affectionally referred to as the "College Fire Department."

Francis Stephenson Hutchins (b. 1902), a native of Northfield, Massachusetts, was educated at Oberlin College (A.B., 1923) and Yale University (M.A., 1933). Having worked in China as an undergraduate, Hutchins returned to China as an instructor in 1925 as part of the Yale-in-China Association's educational mission.
